Tasker (2024)

Tasker, Technical prototype video, CVPR AI Art Gallery, Seattle, US, June 2024

Gallery visitors are invited to play chess moves on a wooden, tournament style chess board closely modelled on the set that Garry Kasparov played against IBM’s Deep Blue in 1997.

Installation

Tasker is comprised of an automated interactive chess board, UR5 robot arm, and prototype video. This is presented alongside IBM adverts produced immediately after the Kasparov / Deep Blue rematch celebrating the new age of 'AI'.

Protoype Video

The protoype video demos the UR5 robot arm / chess / mTurk interaction, using a UR5 robot arm (programmed in python), a python enabled interactive chess board (using RFID tags and readers), alongside an animated 3D model of the installation

The prototype video was produced for CVPR AI Art Gallery, Seattle, US, June 2024 (curated by Luba Elliot).
